The transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Transportation accounted for the largest portion (27%) of total U.S. GHG emissions in 2020, according to the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks 1990–2018.
One of the ways to have the largest impact on reducing harmful emissions from transportation is to reduce the impact that public and private fleet vehicles have on the environment and local air quality. Together at IACT, we make changes to contribute to cleaner air in our committees, leading to a reduction in respiratory ailments, such as asthma and lung cancer.
Your support gives us the resources to educate and collaborate with area partners to make Illinois cleaner, whether that be through community collaboration, workshops or seminars.
Illinois Alliance for Clean Transportation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit coalition focused on promoting cleaner energy for transportation and automotive fleets throughout Illinois. We are one of more than 75 association across the country affiliated with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program.
